The Manchester Lady Squire softball team had high expectations heading in to their opening round sectional game against undefeated North Miami Monday. Earlier in the season the Lady Squires played the #8 Lady Warriors to the wire in a 3-2 loss.
North Miami quickly shattered the Squire expectations in the top of the first when they scored 6 runs before the first out and 8 total in the inning. Bailey Briggs and Cortnee Lefebvre singled. Josie Wood drove home the first run with a double and was followed by Amanda Nelson drawing a walk to load the bases. Jean Donaldson then doubled to drive in two runs, making it 3-0. Jessie Paul drove in the next run with a double to make it 4-0 and the the Warriors scored two more on a Squire throwing error, 6-0. North Miami scored two more times before the dust settled and led 8-0 before the Squires come to bat.
Squire relief pitcher Sydney Jordan held the Warriors at bay for the next two innings until the fourth. With two outs the Warriors had back to back singles, with both being drove home by another Josie Wood double and then scoring a third run on a Squire throwing error, 11-0.
North Miami would pick up their final run in the fifth. With two outs Amanda Nelson drew a walk and was followed by a Jean Donaldson single, which was mis-played, scoring Nelson, 12-0.
