The Wabash Lady Apache basketball team opened conference play Saturday, visiting Tippecanoe Valley and defeating the host 46-40.
The Lady Apaches trailed Valley 15-14 after one and 24-21 at the half.
Wabash out scored Valley 9-7 in the third quarter to set up the thrilling ending. The game was tied at 40 with 1:57 to play when Wabash would score the last six points, including two free throws by Claire Cromer with 11 seconds remaining for the 46-40 win.
The win moves Wabash to 5-2 for the year and 1-0 in the TRC.
Leading the Lady Apaches was Claire Cromer with 20 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assist. Lyndsie Thomas added 12 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist. Kyleigh Hampton had 9 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assist, 8 blocks. Charlie Pardo had 3 points, 1 rebound. Jaclyn Lewis had 2 points, 1 rebound, 3 steals. Abby Stein added 2 rebounds. Katelyn Vogel had 4 rebounds, 2 assist.
The junior varsity lost to Valley 38-19.
