It was a county rival game and also a TRC game as the Manchester girls basketball team paid a visit to Northfield. The Lady norse were coming off winning their own tournament Saturday and the Lady Squires were coming off a win over Lewis Cass Nov. 26th.
The Lady Norse defended their home turf with a 40-22 win.
The Squires would jump out to a 2-0 lead on a Kayla Flack bucket, but it was all Katie Stephan and the Norse the rest of the quarter, as Stephan pumped in 8 points and the Norse led 12-6 after one.
Neither team could find the bucket with regularity in the second quarter, as the Norse out scored the Squires 7-4. Sidney Reed led the Northfield offense with 4 points, while Sydney Snep and Flack had the two Manchester buckets. Northfield led 19-10 at the half.
Sydney Eltzroth would put the Norse lead to double digits to start the third quarter with two free throws. After a Kalene Freshour bucket for the Squires cut the Northfield lead to 21-12, Eltzroth would drain back to back three pointers to give Northfield a 27-12 lead and force a Manchester time out. After the time out, Eltzroth would connect from behind the arch one more time to increase the lead to 30-12 and the Norse led 32-15 with a quarter to go.
Kylie Echard would start the fourth quarter with two free throws and the Norse were cruising. Kayal Flack would find the bucket for Manchester twice in the quarter, but the Norse lead was to much to over come as Northfield would go on to win 40-22.
Sydney Eltzroth would lead the Norse in scoring with 13 points. Sidney Reed added 10, Katie Stephan 8, Kylie Echard 5, Arie Kennedy 3, Payton Thompson 1. Eltzroth led with 7 rebounds. Reed added 5. Arie Kennedy had 4 assist, 3 steals. Stephan added 5 steals.
