Strong Second Half Lifts Lady Knights

The Southwood Lady Knights basketball team traveled to Mississinewa Wednesday and used a strong second half to defeat the host Indians 55-45.

After a tight first quarter with the Lady Knights leading 15-14 the host Indians dominated the second quarter, out scoring Southwood 18-9 to lead the Knights 32-24.

The Southwood offense and defense took over in the second half. With six players in the scoring column, dominating the boards and blocking shots, Southwood out scored Mississnewa 13-4 in the third quarter and 18-9 in the fourth for the ten point win.

Leading the Lady Knights was Sarah White with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assist, 5 steals. Amy Bowman added 13 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block. Mollie Harnish had 8 points, 4 assist, 1 block. Katie Stouffer had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block. Kaley Harness had 7 points, 2 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 block. Ana Marie Farlow had 3 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block.

The junior varsity also defeated the Indians, winning 35-26.

Aleesha Phillips led with 13 points, 3 assist, 3 steals. Meranda Friend added 7 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block. Grace Whitham had 6 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assist. Danielle Pegg had 4 points, 6 rebounds. Haley Heath had 4 rebounds. Abby Houlihan had 3 steals.
