The Wabash Lady Apache basketball team headed to Oak Hill Tuesday to take on the 6-1 Lady Eagles in hopes of picking up a win before hosting county rival Northfield Saturday. For three quarters it looked as though Wabash might pull off the road upset, but Oak Hill used a fourth quarter surge to top Wabash 47-39.
The Lady Apaches would hang tough early, not playing their best basketball, turning the ball over and getting in to early foul trouble. Kyleigh Hampton would connect on a three to give Wabash an ealy 5-3 lead before Oak Hill took the lead and built it to 11-5 before a Sarah Puckett bucket. Oak Hill led 13-7 after one.
With Oak Hill up 5, Claire Cromer would connect on a three to make it 19-17 before the Lady Eagles built the lead back to 5 again. The Lady Apaches would hang tough and late in the half Charlie Pardo drained a three to make it 22-20. Wabash had a chance for the final possession, only to have a turn over and Oak Hill scoring at the buzzer for a 24-20 half time lead.
Lyndsie Thomas would get things going for Wabash in the third quarter with a bucket and after a Kyleigh Hampton bucket Wabash led 26-25. Claire Cromer would hit her second three pointer of the game and Wabash led 30-29 after three.
Oak Hill would take advantage of home court and some Wabash miscues to out score the Apaches 18-9 in the final quarter for the 47-39 final.
