Flack Lifts Lady Squires Over North Miami

One night after Chase Fierstos hit five three pointers and scored 27 points to lead the boys basketball team over North Miami, Lady Squire Kayla Flack lit up the scorebaord, matching his three point performance and poured in 31 points to lead the Manchester girls team over North Miami 62-56.

Flack was unstoppable against North Miami Saturday night and the Lady Squires needed every bucket to sqeak out the win. North Miami would match Manchester bucket for bucket in the first quarter as the two teams played to a 12-12 tie. Flack would score 6 points in the quarter which included one three pointer, while three other players scored two points each.

The Lady Squires got a little breathing room in the second quarter as they out scored the Warriors 19-14. Flack would drain two from behind the arch and score 11 points in the quarter. Bekah Brunn also found the bucket from behind the stripe and Tabby DeWitt scored a bucket as the Squires led 31-26 at the half.

Flack would continue her hot shooting in the third quarter, scoring 7 points which included another three. Autumn Brewer connected on two buckets as the Lady Squires won the quarter by four and led 44-35.

The fourth quarter was a run and gun show by both teams as North Miami increased the tempo to play catch up, but the Lady Squires were up for the challenge. The Warriors won the quarter 21-18 while a balance Squire scoring attack in the quarter held the Warriors off. Flack again led the way with 7 points, hitting her fifth three pointer, with DeWitt, Brewer, Brunn and Kalene Freshour scoring to seal the deal.

It was just one of those nights for Flack as she shot 62% on the night, which included 71% from behind the arch.

Leading the Lady Squires was Kayla Flack with 31 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, 6 assist. Tabby DeWitt had 9 points, 1 assist, 6 rebounds. Autumn Brewer had 9 points, 1 assist, 1 block, 13 rebounds, 2 steals. Bekah Brunn had 9 points, 1 assist, 6 rebounds, 1 steal. Kalene Freshour had 2 points, 3 assist, 4 rebounds, 2 steals. Sydney Snep had 2 points, 1 steal. Katelyn Parrett had 3 assist. Claire Barnett had 2 assist, 1 steal. Madison Isbell had 1 rebound.

The junior varsity won 25-24.

Tiffany Johnson had 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals. Shelby Johnson had 5 points, 1 steal. Kiana Gillum had 5 points, 1 steal.
