Southwood senior Courtney Simpson signed her national letter of intent Monday to play softball at Indiana Tech.
In her softball career to date Simpson has earned three varsity letters. In 2011 Simpson won the best hitter award with a .355 batting average. Courtney was TRC Honorable Mention in 2011 & 2012 and ”All County” in 2011 & 2012. Simpson still has the 2013 ahead of her.
Courtney also earned three varsity letters in golf. She was the teams 2012 Mental Attitude award winner and was a 2011 Academic Honorable Mention in the TRC in 2011.
Courtney also earned two junior varsity awards in volleyball.
Indiana Tech, an NAIA school is coached by Becky Norris. Norris said of Simpson, ” Courtney will fit well in our softball program. She is a developing player who will grow in to a spot and improve our depth. We need depth in the outfield.”
Simpson said of Indiana Tech, ” I went to a clinic there in the summer and fit in very well.”
Indiana Tech is a small, private, independent college specializing in providing undergraduate education in Engineering, Computer Science and Business.
