The #18 Southwood Lady Knight basketball team traveled to Greentown Thursday to pay a visit to the 2A #6 Eastern Comets. Southwood dominated the host for three quarter before a lobsided fourth quarter propelled Eastern to a 57-46 win.
In a game where Eastern made over three times more free throws than Southwood shot, the Lady Knights were staged for the upset with a quarter to go.
Using a balanced scoring attack and dominating the boards the Lady Knights led the host 14-13 after one and 32-28 at the half.
Southwood would come out the second half and out score Eastern 10-9 in the third and led 42-37 with a quarter to go, before the Comets went crazy in the fourth, out scoring the Knights 20-4 for the 57-46 final.
Eastern was 20 of 25 from the free throw line. Southwood was 6 of 6. The Lady Knights out rebounded Eastern 39-22.
Leading Southwood was Ana Marie Farlow with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assist, 2 steals, 2 blocks. Sarah White had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assist, 2 steals. Emily Murphy had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block. Katie Stouffer had 6 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 blocks. Mollie Harnish had 4 points, 3 rebounds. Amy Bowman had 4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assist, 2 steals. Kaley Harness had 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal.
Southwood is 9-4
The junior varsity won over Eastern 44-25.
