After a very slow first quarter the Wabash Lady Apache basketball team picked up steam to cruise past Lewis Cass 44-25 Wednesday.
In a first quarter where neither team could find the bucket, the Lady Apaches defense was the positive note, holding Cass to just 2 points, while scoring only 4 for a 4-2 lead after one.
The Wabash defense remained strong in the second quarter, while the offense tripled their out put from the first quarter, out scoring Cass 12-6 in the second for a 16-8 halftime lead.
The momentum would stay with Wabash in the third, again holding Cass to single digit scoring(4), while having their best offensive quarter of the night, scoring 17 points to open a 21 point gap at 33-12.
Cass would out score Wabash 13-11 in the fourth, but the damage had already been done with the Lady Apaches cruising to a 44-25 win.
Leading the way for Wabash was Kyleigh Hampton with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assist, 2 blocks. Sarah Puckett had 7 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal. Claire Cromer had 7 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assist, 1 steal. Lyndsie Thomas had 6 points, 1 assist, 1 steal. Charlie Pardo had 3 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal. Katelyn Vogel had 1 rebound, 4 assist, 1 steal. Abby Stein had 1 rebound.
Junior Varsity goes to 11-6 with a 20-17 victory over Cass
Kristen Ford had 13 points.
