The Manchester boys basketball team was looking to pick up their third TRC win Friday when they traveled to Rochester. The host Zebras had different ideas as they jumped on the Squires early in route to a 54-42 win.
The Squires got off to a slow start as the Zebras did just the opposite, out scoring Manchester 19-7 in the first and 10-6 in the second for a 29-13 halftime score. Clayton Petrie hit two buckets in the first with Claudell Dickantone chipping in a three pointer.
The Squires did not get a point from the starters in the second as three reserves, Cameron Brandenburg, Lucas Schilling and Derek Flack each had a bucket.
Dickantone would hit his second three pointer of the game in the third quarter, connecting on two buckets along with Clayton Petrie, but Rochester again out scored the Squires 13-11 to lead 42-24 after three.
Manchester would score 18 points in the fourth quarter on just three buckets, two by Petrie and one by Schilling. The Squires hit 11 free throws in the quarter to out score Rochester 18-13, but fell short 54-42.
Leading the Squires was Clayton Petrie with 15 points. Claudell Dickantone had 8, Lucas Schilling 5, Chase Fierstos 4, Phoenix Goad 4, Neil Underwood 2, Cameron Brandenburg 2, Derek Flack 2.
The junior varsity fell to Rochester 37-30.
Cameron Brandenburg led the Squires with 12 points. Riley Rickert added 6.
