The Wabash Lady Apache basketball team used a huge first quarter Saturday in route to a 64-46 win over North Miami.
When your on the road you want to get off to a good start and that’s just what Wabash did Saturday, jumping out to a 9-0 lead and finishing the quarter on a 10-2 run to lead North Miami 21-7 after one.
Wabash would start the second quarter by extending their lead to 25-7 before North Miami began to settle down. The Lady Warriors clawed away and cut the lead to 27-15 when Claire Cromer drained a three to open a 15 point lead at 30-15. The Lady Apaches would out score North Miami 13-11 in the quarter to lead 34-18 at the half.
With some foul trouble plaguing the Lady Apaches midway through the third quarter, they were forced to go deep in to their bench, with 12 different players seeing the floor in the game. Wabash still held their own, with both teams scoring 15 points in the quarter as the Apaches led 49-33 after three.
With 8 players scoring for Wabash, the balanced scoring attack allowed Wabash to out score North Miami in the fourth 15-13 for the 64-46 win.
Leading four Wabash players in double figures was Kyleigh Hampton with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assist, 3 steals, 7 blocks. Lyndsie Thomas had 15 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assist. Claire Cromer had 13 points, 1 rebound, 5 assist, 1 steal. Kayelyn Vogel had 10 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block. Sarah Puckett had 6 points, 7 rebounds. Charlie Pardo had 2 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals. Kristen Ford had 1 point, 1 rebound. Abby Stein had 1 point, 3 rebounds. Sarah Ritter had 1 rebound. Jaclyn Lewis had 1 rebound, 1 steal.
