The Southwood boys basketball team raised their season record to 8-4 and TRC record to 4-1 with a 66-53 win over North Miami Friday night.
The Knights would hold a two to three point lead for most of the first quarter before opening a five point gap by quarter end, leading 14-9.
In the second quarter Robbie Cole drained a three to give the Knights their largest lead of the night at 30-17 as Southwood out scored North Miami 21-18 in the quarter to lead 35-27 at the half.
Cole and Jackson Blair would carry the Knights in the third, but the Warriors wouldn’t go away, winning the quarter 16-15 to stay in striking distance at 51-42 with a quarter to go.
Southwood would go on to out score North Miami in the final quarter 16-10 for the 66-53 final.
Leading the Knights was Jackson Blair with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assist. Robbie Cole had 15 points, 2 assist. Corey Phillipy had 13 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals. Shane Smith had 8 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assist, 2 steals, 5 blocks. Levi Sutton had 7 points, 4 assist. Ross Phillipy had 4 points, 2 assist, 2 steals. Nathan Hollars had 2 points, 4 assist.
The junior varsity rolled past North Miami 51-20.
Leading Southwood was Alex Harmon with 13 points. Luke Elliott and Clay Hinrichsen had 10 points each. Dolph Struck had 6, Jacob Lloyd 5, Brennan Kelly 3, Brandin Frazier 2, Austin Schlemmer 2.
Elliott and Lloyd had 5 rebounds each. Andrew Finicle had 4 assist, Jacob Lloyd 5 steals.
