The Manchester boys basketball team hosted TRC leader Tippecanoe Valley Friday, falling to the Vikings 63-44.
Valley got off to a hot start as they out scored Manchester 18-6 in the first quarter. Neil Underwood and Lucas Schilling had buckets for the Squires.
Team leader Clayton Petrie and freshman Derek Flack would get things going for Manchester in the second, as the Squires hung with the Vikings. Petrie and Flack scored all 12 of Manchester’s points in the quarter with each player scoring 6. Petrie had a three pointer. Valley out scored Manchester 15-12 for a 33-18 halftime score.
Again the Squires would hang right with Valley in the third. Along with Petrie and Flack, Claudell Dickantone got on the board. Coach Thompson ” I liked the way we competed tonight.” Valley out scored Manchester 19-17. Dickantone led the quarter with 7 points, which included a three pointer while Petrie and Flack had 4 each.
As the theme would go the previous two quarters, Valley out scored Manchester by two points. The Squires got a three pointer from Micah McDaniel, while the remaining 6 points were on free throws as Valley won the quarter 11-9 on their way to the 63-44 final.
Scoring for Manchester was Clayton Petrie with 13, Austin Flack 11, Claudell Dickantone 7, Lucas Schilling 4, Neil Underwood 2, Cameron Brandenburg 2, Branden Scott 1.
The junior varsity defeated Valley 46-33.
