The Northfield boys basketball team ran in to a buzzsaw at Huntington Saturday, falling to the host Vikings 78-41.
The Norse couldn’t get anything going on the offensive end, shooting just 28.6% in side the arch and 16.7% from outside. To top it off, the Norse shot just 60% from the line.
Huntington won the first two quarters with identical numbers, winning each quarter 14-8 to lead Northfield 28-16 at the half.
The Norse offense would get a little better the next two quarters, but the Vikings got a lot better. Huntington out scored Northfield 26-13 in the third and 24-12 in the fourth for the lobsided win.
Leading Northfield was Marcus Kroh with 11 points, 5 rebounds. Collin Dawes had 10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals. Ryan Keaffaber had 10 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal. Tanner Wilcox had 7 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal. Adam Roser had 3 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal. Carter Frieden had 2 rebounds. Caleb Coe had 1 rebound. Noah Shear had 1 assist. Christian Hawkins had 1 rebound. Jon Richardson had 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal.
The junior varsity lost to Huntington 49-37.
