The Manchester boys basketball team looked like the momentum from the past couple games was going to continue Thursday and it did for three quarters, until Caston exploded for 25 points in the fourth to top the Squires 55-46.
The Squires held the potent Caston offense at bay for most of the game, trailing caston just 8-7 after the first quarter. Clayton Petrie did all the scoring for the Squires, hitting three times with once behind the arch.
Petrie would keep up his sharp shooting in the second quarter, draining a three again with Micah McDaniel also hitting a three as Manchester out scored Caston 11-6 in the second for an 18-14 halftime lead.
The thirds quarter would be a competitive one as Caston would out score Manchester 16-15. Petrie would continue his ways with Neil Underwood and Cameron Brandenburg chipping in four points each and the Squires still led with a quarter to go, 33-30.
Although the Squires scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, Caston shot lights out, hitting four-three pointers and seven buckets to score 25 points for the 55-46 comeback win over the Squires.
Leading Manchester was Clayton Petrie with 21 points. Claudell Dickantone had 8, Neil Underwood 6, Cameron Brandenburg 6, Micah McDaniel 3, Lucas Schilling 2.
The junior varsity topped Caston 50-25.
Micah McDaniel led with 16 points. Dalton Day had 9, Rainer Borgmann 6, Keelan Narwood 6, Braydon Sewell 5, Cameron Brandenburg 5, Derek Flack 2, Austin Brewer 1.
