The Southwood boys basketball team was hosting an afternoon game Saturday because of the girls sectional, making short work of Madison Grant 60-47.
The Knights wasted no time in letting the Argylls know they liked the afternoon atmosphere, jumping out to a quick 5-0 start. Jackson Blair converted a three point play to get things started and was followed by two Shane Smith free throws. After a Madison Grant bucket Robbie Cole does what he does best by draining a three pointer to put the Knights up 8-2. The Argylls would hit buckets on both sides of a Smith bucket to cut the lead to 10-6 before Blair connected from behind the arch and freshman Alex Harmon hit to make the first quarter score 15-6.
Smith would hit back to back buckets after a Madison Grant bucket to start the second quarter to lead 19-8 when the Argylls made a small run, scoring 6 straight to pull within 5 at 19-14. Nathan Hollars and Blair would get the lead back to 23-14 as the Knights would out score the Argylls 8-2 during a three minute stretch and led 27-16. After Madison Grant hit a three to cut the lead to 8, Blair would answer witha three to end the quarter and Southwood led 30-19 at the half.
The Knights would blow it open in the third. Shane Smith would hit a bucket between two Jackson Blair buckets to open a 36-19 lead and got free throws from Blair and Levi Sutton to increase the lead to 40-22. After a Madison Grant free throw Harmon would take the reins, hitting two buckets and two free throws to give the Knights their largest lead of the day at 46-23. The Argylls would hit six free throws in the final two minutes and the Knights led 48-30 with a quarter to go.
Madison Grant would out score Southwood 17-12 in the fourth quarter as the Knights milked the clock. The Phillipy brother(Corey&Ross) would be the offense in the quarter with Corey getting 6 and Ross 4 points as the Knights rolled to the 60-47 win.
Leading Southwood was Jackson Blair with 19 points. Shane Smith added 16, Alex Harmon 8, Corey Phillipy 6, Ross Phillipy 4, Robbie Cole 3, Nathan Hollars 2, Levi Sutton 2.

The junior varsity beat Madison Grant 39-35.
Unofficially Noah Kirk led with 13 points. Luke Elliott added 10, Zach Hobson 6, Austin Schlemmer 4, Dolph Struck 4.
