The Southwood boys basketball team went on the road Saturday to take on Maconaquah, falling to the Braves 64-53.
The Knights dug themselves a hole in the first quarter and could never rebound. After falling behind 13-8 after the first quarter, Maconaquah would widen the gap by out scoring Southwood 16-10 in the second to lead the Knights 29-18 at the half.
The Braves would not let up, winning the third quarter 14-13 before the Knights won the fourth 22-21 for the 64-53 final.
Leading the Knights was Robbie Cole with 17 points, 3 steals. Shane Smith added 11 points, 8 rebounds. Jackson Blair had 11 points, 4 rebounds. Corey Phillipy had 6 points, 4 rebounds. Alex Harmon had 6 rebounds. Ross Phillipy had 4 rebounds, 3 assist, 3 steals. Nathan Hollars had 3 assist, 3 steals.
The junior varsity fell to Maconaquah 39-37.
Dolph Struck and Luke Elliott led with 9 points each. Zach Hobson added 7, Jacob Lloyd 6.
