The Manchester boys basketball team raced out to a lead and then held on to defeat Argos 58-56 Tuesday.
The Squires would come out playing some aggresive defense, while getting the offense going in the first quarter on the road. Clayton Petrie would hit three times in the first quarter with Claudell Dickantone and Neil Underwood adding buckets to lead Argos 14-11 after one.
The Squires would increase their three point lead in the second quarter as Petrei and Dickantone remained hot with Lucas Schilling and Derek Flack getting in on the action. Schilling hit two bucket with Flack and Dickantone draining three pointers as the Squires won the quarter 17-12 and led 31-23 at the half.
Two freshman would step up in the third quarter as Chase Fierstos would hit twice and Braydon Sewell connecting for a bucket. The Squires played Argos even in the third 12-12 and had a 43-35 lead with a quarter to go. Dickantone and Schilling also had buckets in the quarter.
Argos would make a run at Manchester in the fourth as they out scored the Squires 21-15, but timely free throws down the stretch by Dickantone and Petrie was enough to hold off Argos for the 58-56 win.

Leading Manchester was Clayton Petrie with 16 points. Claudell Dickantone added 14, Lucas Schilling 9, Neil Underwood 7, Chase Fierstos 6, Derek Flack 4, Braydon Sewell 2.
The junior varsity cruised past Argos 41-13.
