The North Miami Warriors and the Oak Hill Golden Eagles opened the Manchester boys sectional Tuesday. North Miami was looking to avenge a February 9th loss to Oak Hill and got off to a good start, but the taller Eagles were to much as Oak Hill won game one 48-20.
North Miami got off to a good start, aided by a three pointer from Austin Barker and led 5-2 in the first minute. At 5-4 the Eagles would come out flying, scoring 9 straight points the last 2:18 to end the quarter and lead 13-5 after one. Jace Martin and Derek Durkes led the Oak Hill charge with 5 and 4 points.
Alex Borse would convert a layup for North Miami just 20 seconds in to the second quarter to make it 13-7 before the Eagles would fly again, going on a 12-0 run to open a 25-7 lead. Oak Hill had four different players score during the run that was started with a three pointer from Matt McDivitt and ended with a three from Jace Martin. Aasa Deardorff would convert a three point play with .52 remaining and Keith Rouch hit a free throw with .06 left to keep North Miami in striking distance at the half, trailing Oak Hill 25-11.
Not wanting to give the Warriors any hope of a comeback, Oak Hill came out firing on all pistons to start the third quarter. The Eagles started the quarter with an 11-0 run that took the wind from the sails of the Warriors. Oak Hill led 36-11 before Keith Rouch stopped the bleeding for the Warriors with a free throw at the 4:04 mark. After a Jace Martin three made it 39-12 North Miami would get two buckets from Ethan Beech to end the scoring for the quarter with Oak Hill leading 39-16.
Oak Hill would score the first 7 points of the fourth quarter on a three from Matt McDivitt and two layups from J.D. McKinney to go up 46-16 with 5:00 to play. Just 6 total points were scored the last 4:23 as Oak Hill went on to top North Miami 48-20 and the right to play Manchester Friday.
Jace Martin led Oak Hill with 16 points. Matt McDivitt added 9, Derek Durkes 8, J.D. McKinney 6, Gerritt Taylor 5, Wes Mann 2, David Horner 2.
Leading North Miami was Ethan Beech with 8 points. Austin Barker added 3, Aasa Deardorff 3, Keith Rouch 2, alex Borse 2, Dakota Ribble 2.
