The Northfield baseball team rebounded from their loss to Wabash Wednesday with an 8-1 win at Tippecanoe Valley Thursday.
The Norse got a great relief effort from Andy Maggart who went six innings allowing only 4 hits, 1 unearned run, walking none and striking out 5 to improve to 2-1 on the season. Maggart started the second after Ryan Keaffaber pulled himself from the game after the first inning from arm fatigue.
In the top of the second, Joseph Ross lead off with a single. Andy Roser double to left advancing Ross to third.
Shane Viar 2 rbi single (2-0).
In the third Andy Roser rbi infield single on diving stop by shortstop (Richter scores,3-0). Vigar was HBP (Dawes scores, 4-1).
In the top of the fifth, a 2 out rbi double by Roser scores Keaffaber who lead off w/ a walk and had stole second to lead 5-1.
In the seventh a 2 out rbi single by Drake Richter. RBI single by Keaffaber who stole second and scored on a throwing error off ball hit by Collin Dawes (8-0).
Andy Roser had 3 hits, 2 doubles and 2 rbi, Ryan Keaffaber added 2 hits and Shane Vigar knocked in 3 runs for the Norse
who are now 12-3.
