Knights Out Slug North Miami

The Southwood Knight baseball team collected their second straight impressive win Wednesday, out slugging North Miami 10-9.

In a see saw battle, the Knights scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st after giving up a run in the top. North Miami would tie the score in the 2nd, plating 3 runs.

Starting pitcher Jackson Blair would settle down and hold the Warriors scoreless the next two innings, while the Knights picked up a run in the 3rd & 4th to lead 6-4.

Heading to the 6th, still 6-4 North Miami would get to relief pitcher Clay Hinrichsen, scoring 4 times to take an 8-6 lead over the Knights. Southwood would answer, scoring 3 times to take the lead back at 9-8 with an inning to go.

The Warriors tied the game at 9 in the top of the 7th, with the Knights answering with a run in the bottom for the exciting 10-9 win.

Jackson Blair went 4 1/3, striking out 3, walking 7, giving up 2 hits & 4 runs. Clay Hinrichsen would pitch 2 2/3, striking out 2, walking 2, giving up 6 hits & 5 runs(4ER).

Kyle Weaver went 2 for 3, with a double and a walk, scoring 3 runs and had a stolen base. Nathan Hollars was 1 for 1, 2 walks, 1HBP, 2 runs. Jackson Blair was 1 for 3, 2 runs, 1 BB, 1RBI. Robbie Cole was 0 for 1, 1 run, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 sac. Jacob Lloyd was 1 for 4, 2 rbi’s. Brandin Frazier was 1 for 4 which was a home run. Christian Deeter was 1 for 2, 1 run, 1 RBI, 2BB.

Coach Holtzleiter ” Tonight was a great team win. Both teams swung the bats and a bunch of guys contributed to the victory. I have really been impressed with our teams attitude at the end of the last two games.”
