Apaches Fall To Indians

The Wabash varsity baseball team built an early lead, only to give it up in the 7th, falling to Mississinewa 4-3 Thursday.

Wabash took a 1-0 lead in the first. Landon Cole led off with a single and was sacrificed to second by Devin Bitzel. Cole then stole 3rd before Shea Beauchamp drove him home with a single.

The game went to the 4th, still 1-0 as starting pitcher Devin Hostetler had held the Indians to just one hit. Mississinewa would manufacture a run in the top of the fourth to knot the score at 1, but the Apaches had an answer. Bitzel drew a walk and Beauchamp was hit by a pitch to put runners on 1st & 2nd with no outs. Grant Sailors would single home Bitzel with Beauchamp being thrown out at third on a debatable call. With two outs, Tyler Brewer would single home the third Apache run and Wabash led 3-1 after 4.

Mississinewa would pick up a run in the 6th, then score 2 in the 7th to comeback and defeat the Apaches 4-3. Grant Sailors had a single in the 6th.
