Manchester Tennis Blanks Whitko

The Manchester Squire tennis team played their most complete team match of the season with a dominating 5-0 win over Whitko Thursday.  Brandon Scott played his first match at 3 singles and cruised to a quick 6-1, 6-0 victory. Coach Eichenauer  “Brandon has played some great tennis in practice this past week and earned a shot at singles.  I was impressed with his composure and drive to win.”  The doubles team of Morgan Metzger and Matthew Pegg were next to win with a strong 6-0, 6-1 match.  “Morgan is a great senior leader who is playing with confidence and strategy, and Matthew plays really smart and exhibits great net play.”  Max Karg remained  undefeated on the season winning 6-1 and coming from down 1-2 to take 5 staight games from a scrappy opponent to prevail 6-2. “Max just knows how to compete and win.”  The doubles team of Dalton Day and Brayton Spann made it 4-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win.  They really got on a roll in the middle of their match winning 10 out of 11 games to take control.  Brayton hit some great returns and Dalton powered them to victory.”  Finally, Connor Eichenauer moved to 7-1 on the season with a convincing 6-1, 6-4 victory over Tyler Baugher, Whitko’s solid senior #1 player.  “Connor controlled the match from the beginning.  He attacked second serves, moved his opponent around the court, and showed his net play and all-around game.”

“This was the match we’ve been working hard for, one where all positions played up to their potential.  Going into TRC, I like our chances to win each flight.  We have finally reached the point where we are the favorites to win.  Now we have to go out and perform.”
