The Metro Rage varsity boys traveled to Kokomo to play the Kokomo Home School Eagles. Heath Miller (NHS) opened the scoring at the 6 minute mark when Zach Hobson (SHS) played a through ball to Miller who beat the offsides trap. Miller would score again two minutes later when he outraced an Eagle defender and slipped a ball past the Kokomo goal keeper. Miller scored his third goal of the night on a Mike Bekel (SHS) corner kick at the 12 minute mark. The Rage took a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Kokomo would score a goal of their own at the 52 minute mark. The Rage responded to the surge by the Eagles with goals of their own. Mike Bekel ripped a shot inside the 18 yard box that found the back of the net. two minutes later, Noah Shear (NHS) found Zach Hobson unmarked at the top of the 18 yard box and Hobson hit a well placed left footed shot to make the score 5-1.
Julian Hobson (WHS) had one save in goal in the first 61 minutes of play. He was replaced in goal in the latter part of the game by Zach Hobson who recorded 3 saves in relief.
“I was pleased that we came out and scored early, but I felt like we let up after we got up 3-0” stated Rage Coach Jeff Hobson. “I also thought we still looked tired, but some of these guys have played four games in the last seven days.”
The Rage will have the weekend off before returning to action at home next Tuesday against Kings Academy from Marion, IN.
