One week after a comeback win at Tippecanoe Valley, the Southwood football team needed to repeat that performance against Rochester Friday. The Knights trailed 28-7 after three quarters before the comeback kids made the game exciting, scoring 14 fourth quarter points and falling short 28-21.
Rochester had the only score in the first quarter and led the Knights 7-0 after one.
In the second quarter Robbie Cole would find Danny Goff to to knot the score at 7, before Rochester scored one more time to lead 14-7 at the half.
The Knight offense was stagnant in the the third, with the defense giving up 14 points as Southwood trailed 28-7 with a quarter to go.
The tables turned in the fourth as the Southwood defense held Rochester in check while Cole went to work. Cole would connect with Keaton Weiss and Jacob Lloyd on touchdown passes to cut the Rochester lead to 28-21, but the Knights ran out of time for a second miracle.
Robbie Cole was 13 of 21 for 174yds, 3TD’s.
Nathan Hollars led the rushing attack with 130yds on 28 carries. John Berlier added 12yds.
Jacob Lloyd led the receiving corp with 5 catches for 62yds and a TD. Danny Goff had 4 catches for 54yds and 1TD. Noah Kirk had 3 catches for 44yds. Keaton Weiss had 1 catch for 14yds, 1TD.
Nick Rebholz led the defesne with 11 tackles. Kale Weiss added 7, John Berlier 5, Nick McCown and Jacob Lloyd 3.
Andrew Finicle caused a fumble.
