The Manchester varsity volleyball team got off to a 10-0 start in game one on senior night and never looked back, clipping the Oak Hill Golden Eagles wings 25-12, 25-16, 25-21 Monday.
With Kendra Binkley serving the Lady Squires jumped on Oak Hill early, scoring the first 10 points of the game, getting 2 aces from Binkley and kills from Sydney Snep and Corrie Osborne. After an Oak Hill point, Manchester went to work again to score 5 straight points with 4 aces coming from Snep and before you blinked an eye it was 15-1. Binkley would continue to dominate the net while the back row dug everything the Eagles hit at them for a 25-12 game one win.
Game two would be much of the same with the Squires getting a little slower start. Trailing 3-4 Manchester would go on a 7-0 run to open things up. Again the run came with Snep serving. The largest lead of the game came when the Squires were up 16-8 and got a kill from Leah Sorg and an ace from Kiana Gillum to open a 10 point lead at 18-8. The two teams would trade points the rest of the game as Manchester won game two 25-16.
The theme would stay the same in game three with Manchester making runs. After falling behind 0-4 to start the game the Lady Squires found another gear, scoring 10 of the games next 11 points. Binkley and Snep got things going with kills before Cierra Carter took over to record 2 kills and Manchester led 10-6. Oak Hill would then mount a small run of their own, tying the game at 11. Up 13-12 it was Marret Metzger’s turn to show off her serve, recording 2 aces while Snep got 2 kills as the Squires scored 7 straight to take a 20-12 lead. With Manchester up 24-16 Oak Hill made things a little uncomfortable, scoring 5 straight points to make it 24-21 before hitting a serve in to the net to end game three 25-21.
Bedke led assists with 13. Her hitters were led by Snep with 6 kills, Carter: 5, Osborne: 4, Sorg: 2, Binkley: 2, Isbell: 2, and Bedke herself with 1. Metzger ran the back row with 11 digs followed by Bedke: 7, Spann: 4, Casper: 4, Snep: 3, Gillum: 3, Parrett: 2, Carter: 2, Binkley: 2, and Osborne: 2. Snep led us to victory with her 5 aces throughout the night with the help of Metzger: 3, Binkley: 2, and Gillum: 2. And lastly our front row did a decent job blocking, both middles taking a solo block: Osborne and Binkley. And then block assists were added by Binkley and Bedke.
