The Northfield Lady Norse volleyball team notched another win over one of their possible sectional opponents Monday with a 25-12, 25-17, 25-14 sweep over Oak Hill.
Northfield would dominate right from the start in game one, jumping out to an 11-3 lead. Kylie Echard, Elaina Terrill and Holly Dyson recorded three straight kills to open a 3-0 lead with Echard getting one more kill and three aces during the run. Cherish Leming and Tori Snyder had a block for a point. The Norse would use a series of short runs the remainder of the game to cruise to a 25-12 win that was ended with two more Echard aces.
Even though Northfield controlled game two, the Lady Norse had trouble creating distance from Oak Hill. Northfield jumped to a 4-1 lead behind Echard and Dyson, but couldn’t shake the Eagles as they hung close. At 13-11 Elaina Terrill would get two kills and another by Echard to go up 16-11 and the lead would stay at four until 19-15. The Norse would then score three straight started by a Dyson kill, but the Eagles managed two and it was 22-17. After an Oak Hill error, Cherish Leming would get a kill and Cassidy Miller ended the game with an ace, 25-17.
After struggling a little in game two the Norse would find their mojo again in game three. Down 3-5 Echard and Leming would get back to back kills that ignited an 8-0 run to open an 11-6 lead. During the run Echard had two aces with Tori Snyder getting a block for a point. Oak Hill would stay in reach until 19-12 when the Norse would run again, scoring five straight to take a 24-12 lead and go on to win 25-14.
Echard 11 kills 7 aces 7 digs 1 solo block. Howenstine 31 assist and 13 digs. Kennedy 14 receptions and 24 digs. Dyson 10 kills. Terrell 8 kills. Leming 5 kills. Snyder 2 kills. Stefanatos 9 digs and 6 receptions. Poole 13 receptions 6 digs. Snyder also had 2 solo blocks. Dyson and Leming each had one solo block each.
