Lady Squires At Logansport Invite

The Manchester volleyball team competed in the Logansport Invitational Saturday, going 1-3 on the day.

The Lady Squires fell to Huntington in the first match of the day 21-25, 25-23, 8-15. In the second match the Squires lost to Westfield 20-25, 10-25. Manchester fell 15-25, 24-26 to Portage in the third round of pool play before topping Knox 25-13, 22-25, 15-9 in the crossover match.

While varsity was away at Logansport, the JV team traveled to Kokomo for their own tournament. Their first game, a win, was against Northwestern.  The scores were 25-9 and 25-16. In game two against Tipton, the Squires fell in three.  Manchester won game one 25-15 before 25-27 in the second and 14-16 in the third.  From there it was hard to come back and the Squires lost to Covenant Christian in two, 23-25 and 12-25.  The day finished with another loss to Kokomo in two, 12-25 and 17-25.

For the day, aces were led by Alyssa Spann with 9, followed by Paige Wagoner with 8, Kendra Auler with 7, Alicia Fields also with 7, Sydney Day with 6, Karly Eichenauer with 5, finishing out with Kennedy Rosen with 3.  For setting, Auler had 18, Wagoner had 13, and Spann collected 1 assist. Their hitters were led by Mattie McKee with 15 kills, Spann stepped in with 7 kills, Day with 5 kills before her injury, Auler added 4, Rosen with 2 kills, Olivia Jones with 2, Madison Sorg with 1, and Eichenauer with 1 kills.  Behind them in the back row with digs was Eichenauer with 20 on the day, Spann and Emma Casper with 11, 6 for Wagoner, Auler with 3, Rosen, Sorg, and Day all with 2, and 1 dig for Alicia Fields. McKee helped in the front row with 2 solo blocks and 3 block assists.  Day had a solo and block assist also. Jones added in two block assists while Auler and Rosen each contributed a block assist.
