The Southwood 7th grade football team fell to Rochester 12-0 Tuesday.
The squad showed great improvement highlighted by good defensive play and an offensive that moved the ball well. Jackson Simon had a 35 yard punt and 38 yard reception for a near touchdown. Logan Barley ran an organized attack at quarterback. Kyler Chapman had several good runs in this game. Defensively the whole unit made strides. Carson Rich and Eric Carter made several key plays because the defensive line opened up possibilities.
The 8th grade fell to Rochester 34-6.
Cameron Ball scored a touchdown on a long run from scrimmage and did well filling in at quarterback as the team fought through issues with numbers. Peyton Ensor had several receptions and Colby Crow caught a highlight reel throw to add some excitement to the offensive action. Aidan Ortega piled up stats on defense controlling the line action on his side.
