Lady Knights Remain Unbeaten In County Play

The Southwood volleyball team remained on a roll Thursday night as they swept another county rival. The Lady Knights proved to be to much for Wabash as Southwood defeated the Apaches 25-16, 25-11, 25-12.

The game got off to a teeter totter start as an offensive point wasn’t scored until an ace from Bailey Hobbe put Southwood up 4-3. Tied at 4 the Knights would would out the game away early. With Emilie Harnish serving Southwood would score 12 straight points to open a 16-4 lead. During the run Harnish had 3 aces with Bailey Lundmark and Sarah Peterson recording kills. The pesky Lady Apaches would not give in though, coming back to score 10 of the next 14 points to close the gap to 20-14 before the Knights put it away. Kaitlyn Murphy collected 2 aces to secure the win 25-16.

The Lady Knights would score the first 9 points of game two to grab a 9–0 lead. Sami White would serve 3 aces as  Murphy and Hobbs controlled the net. Kristin Cromer would stop the run with a tip for a point and with kills from Sydni Mullett and Sarah Ritter got the deficit to 19-10 before the Knights went to Murphy once more. Murphy would record 4 kills down the stretch with White and Hobbs getting kills to end game two 25-11 and lead 2-0.

Again it was a quick start for Southwood in game three as the Knights fen Murphy early and led 6-1. Sydni Mullett would cut the lead to 7-3 with a kill and the Knights led 8-4 when they would score 6 straight. Emilie Harnish had 2 aces with Sarah Peterson getting a kill during the run. Abby Stein would stop that run with a kill and after a kill from Katie Ford and an ace from Sydney Gibson the Knight lead was 18-10. The Knights would then score 7 of the next 9 points to end the game at 25-12. Hobbs, Makayla Proffitt and Bailey Lundmark had kills.
