Southwood JH Volleyball Invite

The Southwood junior high volleyball teams hosted the Southwood Invite Saturday with all four county schools having 7th and 8th grade teams participating. We will add each teams results as received.

The 7th grade volley knights stormed the Southwood Invitational by taking 1st place!

They dominated their pool by defeating Manchester, Northfield, and Tippecanoe Valley. After landing first in their pool they played Lakeview (Warsaw) in the championship match, winning 25-15, 25-23.

Leading the lady Knights in service points was Makenna Pace with 48 service points and 27 of those aces. Kayla Mays led the knights in kills with 10, and Makenna Proffitt was close behind with 5 kills and 1 block. Allison Steele led the team with 5 assists, Erin Lehner following her up with 4 assists.
Also making big plays for the team were Kirsten Pescenye with 1 dig and 1 kill, Hally Sweet with 4 assists and 2 kills, Madison Johnson with 12 service points and 6 aces, Cerenna Eakright with 2 digs, Britaney Bailey with 2 service points, 1 ace, and 1 back-row kill. Jaeden Younce got in the action as well, protecting the front row with 1 dig.

The Southwood 8th Grade Volleyball Team hosted the Southwood Invitational on Saturday, September 27th. During the first match of the day, Jessica Brubaker had 1 assist, 1 dig; Alissa Pershing had 4 service points, 2 kills, 2 aces; Kassity Simpson had 8 service points, 2 assists, 5 aces, 2 digs; Keagan Simpson had 9 service points, 1 kill, 6 aces, 3 digs; Trindy Wyatt had 1 kill; Paige Young had 3 service points, 1 ace, 1 dig.

The Southwood 8th Grade Volleyball Team played Northfield in the 2nd match of pool play during the Southwood Invitational on Saturday, September 27th. During the 2nd match, Jessica Brubaker had 1 dig; Alissa Pershing had 1 service point, 2 kills, 1 ace, 1 dig; Kassity Simpson had 5 service points, 1 kill, 2 assists, 5 aces, 2 digs; Keagan Simpson had 5 service points, 3 aces, 1 dig; Trinidy Wyatt had 5 service points, 5 aces; Paige Young had 9 service points, 1 kill, 1 assist, 5 aces; and Troi Holloway had 1 service point, and 1 kill.

The Southwood 8th Grade Volleyball Team played Tippecanoe Valley in the final game of pool play at the Southood Invitaional on Saturday, September 27th. During the match, Jessica Brubaker had 1 dig; Alissa Pershing had 3 service points, 1 kill, 1 ace, and 2 digs; Kassity Simpson had 2 service points, 1 kill, 1 ace; Keagan Simpson had 9 service points, 3 kills, 5 aces, 2 digs; Trinidy Wyatt had 2 service points, 2 kills, 1 assist, 2 aces; Paige Young had 9 service points, 2 kills, 2 digs; and Tori Holloway had 1 service point. The 8th Grade team finished 1st in their pool

The Southwood 8th Grade Volleyball Team took on a very talented Lakeview Warsaw team in the championship game at the Southwood Invitational on Saturday, September 27th. During the match Jessica Brubaker had 2 digs; Alissa Pershing had 2 service points, 1 kill, 1 dig; Kassity Simpson had 1 service point, 2 assists, 1 ace, 1 dig; Keagan Simpson had 3 service points, 1 kill, 2 aces, 2 digs; Trinidy Wyatt had 1 service point, 1 kill; Paige Young had 1 dig; and Tori Holloway had 1 service point, 1 kill, 3 digs.

The 8th Grade was the Runner Ups of the Southwood Invitational.

The Wabash 7th grade went 1-3 at the Southwood Volleyball Invitational on Saturday. losing to Lakeview in the 1st match of pool play, 23-25/8-25. Rochester defeated Wabash 18-25/16-25 in the 2nd match of the day. Wabash defeated North Miami in the 3rd match of pool play with a 1 point margin point differential. North Miami won the 1st game of the set 25-22, with Wabash taking the 2nd set 25-21. In the Final match of the day Wabash lost to Northfield in a 3 game set, 25-21/23-25/10-15.

Sydnee Osborn had (22) Service Points,including (8) Aces, (4) Assists, (2) Service Receptions, a Dig and (2) Kills.
Carmen Higdon had (21) Service Points, including (10) Aces,(10) Digs, (9) Service Receptions, and (5) Kills.
Grace Schoening had (12) Service Points, including (5) Aces, and an Assist.
Lexi Westendorf had (11) service Points, including (5) Aces, (7) Service Receptions, (8) Digs, a Kill and an Assist.
Delaney Truman had (6) Service Points, including an Ace, (4) Assists, a Kill (2) Digs, and  (2) Service Receptions.
Hannah Kerr had (5) Service Points, including (3) Aces, a Kill and an Assist.
Taylor Johnson had (4) Service Points, including an Ace, (5) Digs, and (16) Service Receptions,
Hailey Dean had (2) Aces.
Trinidy Turner had a Dig and (4) Service Receptions.
Hope Decker had a Kill.
Shayna Morgan had a Service Reception.
The Manchester 7th grade volleyball team finished 5th in the Southwood Invitational Saturday, September 27th.  The team started the day with 2 losses to Southwood (11-25, 23-25).  The girls then split with Tippecanoe Valley (19-25, 25-23) and split with Northfield (25-21, 20-25).  The team then earned 5th place by beating North Miami in a best of 3 match by the score of 25-24, 25-21.

The Lady Norse 8th grade volleyball team came in 7th at the Southwood Invitational on Saturday. The Norse beat Rochester in their final game, 25-5, 25-16. Ally Keaffaber had 12 serving aces, 27 good passes, and 22 digs for the day. Hope Unger added 15 serving aces and 15 good passes. Kelcie Thomson had 17 assists. Libby Haupert had 13 kills.
