The Southwood VolleyKnight train kept rolling Tuesday, winning their 7th straight regional title with a 25-21, 25-20, 25-23 sweep over Clinton Central. Although the scores were close the Lady Knights were in control, never trailing in the first two games.
Sami White let Clinton Central know right away what they were in for when her first serve of the game was a line drive just inches over the net for an ace as Southwood quickly jumped out to a 7-3 lead. Sarah Peters also had a ace with Emilie Harnish and Bailey Hobbs getting kills. Clinton Central cut the lead to 7-5 when the Knights went to work. With Emilie Harnish serving the Knights would go on a 9-0 run that put them in the drivers seat at 16-5. During the run Harnish served 4 aces with Peters and Bailey Lundmark ripping kills. The Bulldogs would regain their composure and start to chip away at the Knight lead, at one point having a 4 point run to cut the Southwood lead to 22-19 before a Sami White block. The Knights held on to win game one 25-21.
Kaitlyn Murphy got Southwood going in game two with a kill that ignited a 6-0 run to start the game. Sarah Peters had a block and a kill to add to the run as Murphy, Peters and Bailey Lundmark controlled the net to open an 11-3 lead. The Knights were up 14-7 when Clinton Central would make a comeback again. The Bulldogs would score 6 of the next 7 points to cut the lead to 15-13 and had it cut to 18-17 when the Knights caught a second wind. Taking advantage of a couple Bulldog errors, getting an ace from Emilie Harnish and kills from Sarah Peters and Bailey Lundmark the Lady Knights scored 5 straight to open a 23-17 lead. Clinton Central would score 3 straight to get it to 23-20 when Peters scored on a tip, then Kaitlyn Murphy ending the game with a block for a 25-20 win and led 2-0.
The Knights fell behind 2-1 in game three which was the first time they trailed for the night. The Knights however would get on track with Sarah Peters serving to score 5 straight and built their lead to 11-5 before a 3 point Bulldog run made it 11-8. Emilie Harnish would be the next thorn in the side for Clinton Central when she served two aces and had a kill during a 5 point run to make it 16-8. Looking like the Knights might pull away, back came the Bulldigs. Clinton Central would score 6 straight and 10 of the next 13 points to tie the game at 18. After another Harnish kill the Bulldogs ran again, scoring 4 straight to lead the Knights 19-22 but again Harnish would lead the Knights back with 2 kills for 3 straight points to tie the score at 22, forcing a Bulldog time out. Coming out of the time out and Anna Rees serving Southwood would score 2 points to grab a 24-22 lead when Clinton Central scored, making it 24-23. Some heavy Knight pressure forced the Bulldogs in to four hits on the next serve, ending the game 25-23 and the night 3-0.

Southwood will travel to Bremen Saturday for the semi state where they will play #7 Adams Central at 12:30. Hammond Bishop Noll and Muncie Burris play in game one at 11:00.
