For three quarters Friday the Wabash Apaches gave Bremen all they could handle before a strong fourth quarter by the visitors gave Bremen a 42-28 win over the Apaches.
Bremen would strike twice in the first six minutes to grab a 14-0 lead. The Lions would score the first time on a 58yd run to go up 6-0, the pick off Chase Dirig and later score on a 3yd run. The two point conversion made it 14-0 with 5:58 to go and the Apaches needed an answer. Wabash would find the answer they were looking for on a 10 play, 67 yard drive that ended with a Chase Dirig 1yd run with 1:06 left to make it 14-7.
Bremen would grab their 14 point lead again with just over 3 minutes left in the first half to grab a 21-7 lead, but once more the Apaches would answer. Chase Dirig would score from 3yds out with .28 remaining to make it 21-14. With just seconds remaining Bremen marched down the field and on the scoring attempt was intercepted by Grant Dirig in the end zone to end the half.
The Apaches would even the score to start the third quarter when once more the Dirig connection(Chase to Grant) hit pay dirt in a 30yd scoring strike and after the Owen Yeadon kick it was 21-21. On Bremen’s next possession they would drive 54yds to grab the lead back at 28-21 with 4:06 to go.
Bremen would score twice in the fourth quarter, one on a pass play and the other an interception for 69yds to grab a 42-21 lead before Luke Proctor scored with 10 seconds remaining for the 42-28 final.
For Wabash Chase Dirig was 21 of 31 for 294yds. Luke Proctor rushed 15 times for 53yds.
