The Southwood Lady Knights’ fell to 0-2 following a 40-52 road loss to the Northwestern Tigers Friday. The Lady Knights, although finishing on the short end of the score, displayed much intensity, out rebounding the much taller Lady Tigers by a 32-29 margin,. Poor shooting again doomed the Lady Knights as they shot a very cold 25.6 percent from the field while only shooting 60 percent from the free throw line.
Brooke Elliott led the Lady Knights in scoring with 17 points while collecting six rebounds and two steals. Sophomore Kassidy Atwood, making her first varsity start of the season, scored 9 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and added an assist. Haley Heath had 5 points, led the team in rebounding with 7, dished out 3 assists and made 4 steals. She also had a team high 7 pass deflections. Taylor Heath added 5 points and 1 rebound, assist and steal. Makayla Ridgeway scored 1 point and added 4 rebounds. Finally, Katie Stouffer scored 3 points, had 4 rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots.
The junior varsity fell to Northwestern 45.20.
