The Northfield girls basketball team traveled to Maconaquah Tuesday looking to even their season record. After a tight first quarter the Lady Norse pulled away for a 42-24 win to even their season record to 3-3.
After falling behind 2-0 Abby Keaffaber would knot the score at 2 and was followed by Payton Thomson draining a three to give Northfield a 5-2 lead. Tied at 6 Jacklyn Peas would convert an old fashion three as the Norse led 9-6 after one.
Arie Kennedy would get the first bucket of the second quarter, but was answered with a three from the Braves to make it 11-6 when the Norse took off. Jacklyn Peas would hit four straight free throws that ignited a 10-3 run to put the Lady Norse up 21-12. During the run Abby Keaffaber would get a bucket and two free throws along with Cherish Leming getting an offensive rebound bucket. Payton Thomson would hit two free throws to end the half with Northfield leading 23-15.
The Norse got three straight buckets to start the third quarter, one each from Cherish Leming, Abby Keaffaber and Jacklyn Peas to open a 29-15 lead. Sarah Driscoll would trade buckets with the Braves, then Arie Kennedy hit free throws to end the quarter with Northfield leading 36-21.
The Norse defense held Maconaquah to just three points in the fourth quarter as they cruised to the 42-24 win.
