After giving up 12 points in the first quarter the Wabash Lady Apache defense clamped down on Northfield, allowing the Lady Norse just 15 points the remainder of the game in a 40-27 win over Northfield.
Claire Cromer put Wabash up 2-0 before a Norse run made it 8-2. Abby Keffaber drained a three and was followed by a Cherish Leming bucket and a three from Payton Thomson. Kristin Cromer would stop the run with a free throw and was followed by her sister Claire hitting from long range to make it 8-6. The Norse would answer however, getting an offensive rebound bucket from Cherish Leming and a bucket from Arie Kennedy to give Northfield a 12-6 lead after one.
Wabash would come out in the second quarter going on a 7-0 run that was started by Maddy Barden and ending with a Claire Cromer three to take the lead 13-12. The lead would change four times and was eventually tied at 17 when Katie McCauley hit a free throw and Claire Cromer ending the half with a three to give Wabash a 21-17 halftime lead.
The third quarter scoring dropped off even more as the two teams scored a combined 10 points with Wabash winning the quarter 7-3 to lead 28-20. Both Cromer’s and Shelby Stone hit buckets for Wabash, while Northfield scored all 3 points on free throws.
Kristin Cromer would hit to start the fourth quarter with sister Claire following her with a three to open a 33-20 lead before Cherish Leming hit three free throws to make it 33-23. The Norse could muster just one bucket in the quarter as the Lady Apaches ran time and hit five free throws to win the game 40-27.
Claire Cromer led Wabash with 20 points. Kristin Cromer added 8, Shelby Stone 4, Madisn Barden 2, Sarah Puckett 2, Katie McCauley 1.
Leading Northfield was Cherish Leming with 9 points. Payton Thomson added 5, Arie Kennedy 4, Abby Keaffaber 4, Jacklyn Peas 3, Sarah Driscoll 2.
Wabash won the junior varsity game 29-17.
Leading Wabash was Katie McCauley with 10 points. Jaycee Parrett added 7, Bailey Yoakum 5, Sabrina Wagner 4, Breanne Sewell 2, Chelsea Archer 1.
Leading Northfield was Indi Shear with 6 points. Madison Snyder added 5, Ellie Schuler 2, Katie Pefley 2, Maddy Dale 2.
