The Manchester girls basketball team was trailing Peru by 20 points in the third quarter before an impressive comeback got the Lady Squires within one before falling 54-51.
Manchester led 13-12 after the first quarter before a disastrous second put them behind the eight ball. The Lady Squires were out scored 18-3 in the second and trailed 30-16 at the half.
Peru would build on their lead early in the third, going up by 20 before the Lady Squires caught fire. Manchester got 5 points each from Tiffany Johnson, Rae Bedke and Cierra Carter in the quarter to out score Peru 17-15 and trailed 45-33 with a quarter to go.
Drew Thompson would hit her third three pointer of the game that ignited an 18 point quarter from the Squires, but the Lady Tigers were able to hold off Manchester for the 54-51 final.
Leading Manchester was Drew Thompson with 17 points. Cierra Carter added 15, Tiffany Johnson 7, Rae Bedke 5, Celina Carter 4, Bailey Sewell 3.
The Manchester junior varsity nipped Peru 22-21.
