Lady Knights Dominate Southern Wells

The Southwood Lady Knights played host to the Southern Wells Lady Raiders on Tuesday, winning the game 46-20. The Lady Knights and the Lady Raiders were tied at the end of the first quarter 5-5 but the Lady Knights outscored the Lady Raiders 18-3 in the second quarter to lead at halftime 23-8. The Lady Knights outscored the Lady Raiders 15-5 in the third quarter and 8-7 in the fourth quarter.

Offensively, Sophomore guard, Brooke Elliott shot 9-16 from the field, including 2-4 from behind the arc, and added 5 free throws for a 25 point night. Senior Katie Stouffer added 10 points, Taylor Heath scored 5 points, Kassidy Atwood had 4 points, and Aleesha Phillips added 2 points. Stouffer dominated the game defensively with 11 rebounds and 7 blocked shots. Atwood added 9 rebounds while Haley Heath dished out 4 assists and had 3 steals. Elliott proved to be more than an offensive threat as she made 4 steals, blocked 3 shots and had a team leading 10 pass deflections.

The Lady Knights were 16-45 from the field including 3-6 from behind the arc while shooting 11-13 from the free throw line. They held the Lady Raiders to 28 percent shooting while out rebounding them 39-32.

The Southwood Lady Knight’s JV team hosted Southern Wells on Tuesday and came away victorious 32-30.

Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Taylor Heath with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, & 3 steals. Other contributing to the Lady Knights win was Ashley Parson 5 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, & 1 block; Ellie White 5 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, & 1 steal; Makenna Dawes 2 points, & 1 steal; Kayla Proffit 2 points, & 2 rebounds; and Drue Gentry 2 points

The Lady Knights will be back in action on Saturday evening when they travel to North Miami.
