The Southwood and Northfield junior high girls basketball teams split a pair of games in the opening round of the RRC tourney with Southwood winning the 7th grade game 28-21. Northfield won the 8th grade game 46-11.
Leading Southwood in the 7th grade game
Mays had 10 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and steals, 3 blocked shots
Helfin had 8 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals
Pace had 4 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals, 1 blocked shots
Lehner had 4 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal
Finney had 2 points
Burnsworth had 5 rebounds
Benner and Adams played valuable minutes and contributed great defense to the game.
Maddie Clark led Northfield with 18 points. Madison Shrider added 2, Fayth Leming 1.
Leading Northfield in the 8th grade game was Kelcie Thomson with 14 points. Ally Keaffaber added 10, Melanie Beery 9, Hope Unger 6, Payton Salmon 4, Abbey Ross 2, Ariel Dale 1.
Keagan Simpson had 2 points, 2 rebounds; Makayla Bechtold had 2 rebounds; Noell Gottschalk had 2 points; Kassity Simpson had 5 points, 2 rebounds; Alissa Pershing had 7 rebounds, 1 steal; Morgan Farr had 3 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal.
