The Wabash 12 year old all star team capped off a Wabash sweep of the district 9 tournaments Sunday, but it wasn’t easy. After the 9&10 and 10&11 teams won districts Saturday the 12 year olds needed to defeat Delta Sunday to complete the sweep.
Wabash was in the drivers seat being the only unbeaten team in the tournament, so Delta would have to beat Wabash twice.
Game one was a display of power from Delta as they belted 4 home runs to defeat Wabash 8-4 and set up the thrilling final game that was won with a walk off home run from Bryant Boggs.
Wabash led 4-2 after the second inning and held a 4-3 lead going to the sixth when Delta manufactured a run in the top of the inning to tie the score at 4.
With two outs in the bottom of the inning and winning pitcher Logan Barley on, Boggs would smoke a no doubter over the right center fence that sent the crown into hysteria and the celebration was on.
The Boggs shot, which was the first of his little league career is what all little leaguer’s dream about and Bryant Boggs dream couldn’t have come at a better time.
With the 6-4 win Wabash captured the district 9 title which sends them to the state finals in Jasper this coming weekend.
