The Manchester girls soccer team fell in their season opener to Columbia City 3-2 Monday.
The Lady Squires dominated the first half, rarely letting the Eagles past mid field but couldn’t capitalize and trailed 1-0 at the half.
Manchester struck quick in the second half, getting a goal from Meghan Davis at the 39:28 mark to tie the score at 1 before Columbia City answered with 2 goals for a 3-1 lead. The Lady Squires got closer at the 18:20 mark when Abbey Naibauer bounced a shot over the goal tenders arms to make it 3-2, but heavy offensive pressure by the Squires couldn’t strike again in the loss.
Manchester had 17 shots and Columbia City had 9. Great defensive efforts by Olivia Dockter, Melissa Saucedo, Bailey Sewell, and Ellie Milam. Kiera Stacy played very well in the net!
