Karg showed patience and great skill in dismantling a tough opponent. “Max played his style and beat a solid player. We look forward to Max leading the way this year after going 34-3 the last two seasons at 2 singles.” At one doubles, Cain and Pegg started slow (down 1-2) but soon gained momentum to win the first set 6-2. “Noah and Matthew stayed in control the rest of the match as they defeated a very athletic and talented duo.” Manchester freshman Spence Trick and newcomer Parker Wagner played their first ever matches and showed great hustle and heart. “Trick forced many deuce games against an experienced opponent and Parker really learned match play today. I see growth in their strategy and knowledge of the game.” The match came down to 2 doubles where Heath Dierks and freshman Luke Donathan struggled to find consistency and energy. “We needed to put ourselves in a better position to win, both court placement and mindset. We have some practice time to improve and look forward to getting better.” Next match: 8/20 @Maconaquah
