Lady Squires Sweep Peru On The Road

The Manchester Lady Squire volleyball team went on the road to Peru for their first match of the year Tuesday, sweeping the Tigers in a TRC matchup 25-18, 25-12, 25-19

Manchester jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in game one off an ace from Kendra Auler and built the lead to 8-3 with Paige Wagoner recording an ace. The Squires maintained their 5 point lead until Kendra Binkley got a kill and the Squires got back to back aces from Cierra Carter to open a 19-10 lead on their way to the 25-18 game one win.

To start game two the Squires went to Carter, who recorded three kills as Manchester jumped out to a 6-1 lead. After a misque  it would be Binkley and Mattie Mckee recording kills as the lead grew to 15-3 and eventually 21-6. Peru cut the Squire lead to 23-12 when Sydney Day got two straight aces as the Squires won game two 25-12.

Again it would be a fast start for Manchester in game three as Corrie Osborne nailed two kills with Binkley and McKee adding one each for a 5-1 lead. Peru would cut the lead to 5-4 but Manchester answered with a double block from McKee and Osborne, plus two kills from Carter to make it 10-4. Up 16-10 the Squires faltered a little with the Tigers coming back to within one at 17-16 when Osborne recorded a tip that ignited a 5-0 run to make it 22-16.Binkley would get two more kills down the stretch as the Squires won game three 25-16 for the sweep.

The junior varsity topped Peru 25-5, 25-23.

The following are the start for the JV games: Rosen led with 6 aces in her 15 serve run in game one. The following all collected one ace: Paige Wagoner, Kennidy Lauer, and Alicia Fields. Tied for most kills were Kennidy Lauer and Emma Casper each with 2 kills. Kennedy Rosen, Greta Auler, Alicia Fields, and Paige Wagoner all had one kill a piece. Emma Casper had 3 assists for the night and both Kennidy Lauer and Emma West had 1. Lauer led with 4 digs, Fields followed with 2, then West, Wagoner, and Rosen ended up with 1 each.
