It took a bunch of points for the Manchester volleyball team to defeat Wawasee, but that’s just what the Lady Squires did to top the Warriors 23-25, 25-16, 33-31, 25-22 Tuesday.
For the varsity match, the leader in aces was Kendra Binkley with 8. Following her was Paige Wagoner with 4 aces while Kendra Auler & Cierra Carter each had 2, wrapping up with the following girls with a single ace: Emma West, Corrie Osborne, and Ali Casper. In back row defense, digs were led by Carter with 15, West had 9, Sydney Day with 7, C. Osborne & Karly Eichenauer both had 6, Casper had 5, Kendra Auler had 4, Binkley with 3, Wagoner collected 2, and Anna Osborne grabbed 1. Defense in the front row was spread out between our blockers. Day and Carter led with a solo block and 2 block assists each. The Osborne sisters each collected 2 block assists as well. Our setters worked hard to dish out assists. Auler handed out 13 while C. Osborne had 14. A. Osborne added in 2 and Casper had 1. Hitting was a mix of things tonight with kills being led by our outsides, Binkley & Carter, with 14 kills each. Day put away 6 kills, C. Osborne had 5, then the following girls each input a kill for the night: Mattie McKee, Casper, and Eichenauer.
The junior varsity fell to Wawasee 25-24, 20-25, & 10-15.
For the JV action of the night, aces were led by Emma West with 6 and the following girls had a single ace: Paige Wagoner, Kennedy Rosen, Alicia Fields, and Emma Casper. In defense in the back row, Wagoner had 12 digs, West had 6, 5 digs were got up by Fields & Casper & Rosen, and Kennidy Lauer had 1. Defense at the net was handled by Lauer and Rosen each with a solo block and then block assists were had by Rosen and Casper. Assists were dished out by setters Casper with 3, Wagoner with 2, and West with 2. Their hitters were led by Fields with 6 kills. West and Wagoner each managed 4 kills, Rosen had 2, and Greta Auler had 1.
