The Southwood Boys and Girls Varisty XC teams competed in the Marion Invitational Saturday morning at IWU.
The boys team finished 6th out of 25 teams. Individually Josiah Friedersdorf lead the way, medaling, with a 15th place finish. Also competing for the boys were Luke Winer 34th, Aaron Ross 35th, Chase Guenin 57th, Justin Lawson 99th, Jonathan Collins 104th, & Lucas Topliff 182nd. There were a total of 192 runners in their race.
The girls team finished 8th out of 21 teams. Individually Morgan Farr lead the way, medaling, with a 11th place finish. Also competing for the girls were Kassidy Atwood 26th, Ellie White 62nd, Taylor Heath 102nd, MaKayla Bechtold 118th, Jeana Friedersdorf 123rd, Monica Coffelt 141st, Eva Goff 164th, Emmy Titus 177th, & Spring Applegate 180th. There were a total of 182 runners in their race.
With 25 jr. high school cross country teams represented in each race, the Boys’ team finished 16th and the girls’ team placed 18th.
Racing in a field of 270 runners and facing the grueling heat was Braden Sweet, finishing 17th overall. Braden earned an individual medal for his top 25 finish. Alix Winer finished 68th. Landon Topliff placed 95th. Cayden Prickett finished in 129th position. Rounding out the scoring on Saturday for the Knights was Jayden Timmons in 206th place. Skylar Amos also competed finishing in 230th place.
In the girls’ race, Monica Hobson finished in 77th place in a field of 271 runners. Aleia Sweet placed 104th. Alaina Winer finished 126th. Mya Denney placed 138th. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Knights was Abby Fouts in 231st position. Hattie Cochran finished 233rd. Also running for the Lady Knights was Madison Hunter in 267th place.
