The Metro Rage traveled to North Manchester on Wednesday night for a rematch with the Manchester Squires JV soccer team.
The Rage scored quickly when a Logan Peas (NHS) cross found Wyatt Davis (WMS) on a diagonal run in front of the goal. Davis neatly redirected the ball into the net beating the Squires goalkeeper at the three minute mark. The Rage would score again at the 15 minute mark in a similar fashion. Parker Mays (SHS) sent a crossed ball in front of the goal where Mason Zolman (NHS) headed it home. The Rage would take the 2-0 lead into halftime.
Wyatt Davis scored his second goal of the night seven minutes into the second half to bolster the Rage lead. The two teams would battle for the next 27 minutes without either team scoring. The Rage final goal of the night came from Denmark exchange student Jacob Kreutzmann (NHS) who dribbled through a tired Squire defense to give the Rage a 4-0 win.
Rage goalkeeper Tanner Proffitt (SHS) recorded another “clean sheet” with five saves and no goals given up.
Coach Bill Benysh was pleased with the team defense played by the Rage. “Our communication in the back is getting better each game. We are moving well as a unit and we are doing a better job of containing our opponents in the final third.”
The Rage return to action on Tuesday, September 15th when they host King’s Academy for a JV and Varsity double header starting at 5:15pm.
