The Manchester volleyball team got back to their winning ways Tuesday, sweeping Canterbury 25-13, 26-24, 25-15.
The Lady Squires started a little stale in game one and with the score tied at 6 found their mojo. Kendra Binkley would get a kill and two aces that ignited an 8-2 run to open a 14-8 lead, but the Squires weren’t done. Manchester would then go to Cierra Carter and Corrie Osborne as they never let Canterbury score more than one point at a time in route to a 25-13 win.
The Squires started out quick in game two with Paige Wagoner serving two aces to grab a 5-1 lead, but stubbed their toe and let Canterbury get back in the game. Canterbury would make a run, coming all the way back to grab an 11-7 lead and had the Squires on the ropes at 20-15. Sydney Day and Binkley would get kills as Manchester got within one at 22-21 when things looked grim. Canterbury would take advantage of a couple Squire miscues to go up 24-22 when Binkley and Osborne went to work with kills to grab a 25-24 lead before a Binkley ace ended game two 26-24.
Sometimes when you grab a 2-0 lead a letdown could be in order, but not for the Squires in game three. With Binkley serving the Squires ripped off 9 straight to start the game for a 9-0 lead, putting the throttle in cruise control for a 25-15 win.
