Southwood JH Volleyball At Selma

The Southwood 7th grade Volleyball team took 7th place at the Selma Invitational on Saturday. After having a slow start to their day, losing their first three matches, the Knights rallied together for a win in the final match.

On the day Maggie Ball had 5 aces, 3 kills, and 12 assists; Isabel Davis contributed 2 assists, 1 dig, and 2 kills; Erin McGouldrick had 7 aces, 2 kills, and 5 digs; Kandon Pries served for 5 aces, 2 kills, and 2 assists; Shantel Crabtree had 1 ace, 3 kills, and 2 assists; Mariah Wyatt rounded out the scoring with 11 kills, and 3 blocks.

 

The Southwood 8th Grade Volleyball Team traveled to Wapahani for the Wapahani Invitational on Saturday, September 19th. The 8th grade started pool play with a win over East Jay 25-20, 23-25, 15-12. The next match the Knight lost against a very solid and eventual pool winner Selma 18-25, 25-21, 7-15. In the final pool play match the Knights came out with a solid serving game against Connersville winning 25-4, 25-23. With the Knights’ solid pool play effort they found themselves 2nd in their pool. The Knights fell to Muncie Northside in the crossover game 23-25, 22-25. The 8th Grade ended the day in 4th place out of 8 teams at the tourney.

On the day Freedom DeWitt had 2 digs; Madison Johnson had 10 service points, 2 aces, 4 kills, 16 digs; Erin Lehner had 23 service points, 5 aces, 5 kills, 8 digs; Kayla Mays had 18 service points, 14 aces, 12 kills, 12 digs; MaKenna Pace had 34 service points, 11 aces, 4 kills, 22 assists, 6 digs; MaKenna Proffitt had 10 service points, 7 aces, 11 kills, 11 digs; and Allison Steele had 15 service points, 3 aces, 4 kills, 8 assists, 9 digs.

The 8th grade volleyball team is 6-2 on the season.

The Knights will return to action when they travel to Northfield on Monday, September 21 for a 5:30 match-up against the Norse.
