Knights Take Norse In Three

The Southwood volleyball team flexed their muscle at Northfield Tuesday, picking up their fourth conference win in a 25-16, 25-13, 25-11 win over the Norse.

The Lady Norse got the good start, leading 4-1 after a Kiana Kendall kill, but the Knights would quickly respond with an 8-0 run. With Bailey Lundmark serving, setter Bailey Hobbs would find Emilie Harnish who had four kills as the Knights raced to a 9-4 lead. Paige Holley would stop the run with a kill, but the Knights would score 8 of the next 12 points to increase their lead to 17-8. Southwood would go to Lundmark and MaKayla Proffitt as the Knights maintained their lead with Lundmark ending game one with a block, 25-16.

Game two would start the opposite of game one with Southwood scoring the first 10 points of the game. With Bailey Hobbs serving Ashley Parson would get things going with a kill with Harnish ending the run with a kill. The Norse would try to get back in the game, getting kills from Holley and Abigail Poole to make it 13-5 before Drue Gentry laced two aces in a 4-0 run. The two teams would trade punches until 22-13 when Gentry again would serve an ace in a 3-0 run to end game two, 25-13.

The Knights would jump out to a 4-0 lead in game three, aided by an ace from Hobbs. The Norse however would regroup, getting a kill from Carlie England as the Norse scored 4 of the next 5 points to make it 5-4. The Knights would then score 5 straight with the Norse scoring 3 of the next 4 to make it 11-7 Southwood. The taller front line of the Knights, Proffitt, Lundmark and Harnish would then take over as the Knights out scored the Norse 14-4 down the stretch for a 25-11 win.
