Northfield hosted Manchester Tuesday evening in a combined 7th and 8th grade football game. Manchester opened the scoring in the first quarter with a nice balance of rushing and passing. The Norse would tie the score at 6 on a JC Frank touchdown. The Squires regained the lead on a touchdown pass and two point conversion to lead 14-6 at the half. Both defenses would hold in the third quarter with the Norse gaining a slight advantage in field position. Graydon Craig would get the Norse going in the fourth quarter with a pair of long runs and Ripplinger would punch it in on a bruising two yard run. Manchester held on the two point conversion attempt to keep the score at 14-12 with approximately four minutes to play. Manchester would then burn some clock by getting a first down on a fourth and two. On the next play, Ripplinger would force a fumble and Ross Watson would give the Norse a shot with the recovery. Graydon Craig again would tear off a great run to the outside and quarterback Levi Fulkerson would make two great reads running the option. With nine seconds remaining, Fulkerson would hit Craig on a quick seam in the end zone to win it for Norse 18-14.
